Things have been in a whirl wind lately for me. Everytime someone asks me if I'm ready to have this baby yet I answer "As soon as my house is ready".
We are now in our fourth week of living with my parents...fifth week of construction. I keep trying to remind everyone that I am about to have a BABY in less than three weeks to try to keep things going. I am excited about the updates and addition to my house but I really would love to be living in my own house right now, getting my nursery ready, washing the baby's clothes and feeling slightly more prepared for Lucas' arrival. Anyone reading this please pray that the timing will work out and we can get in our house and get at least somewhat settle before the baby is born!!
The latest news about Lucas is that he is a big baby but not nearly as big I think as the doctor's might have feared. I went last Wednesday (the 29th) and had a sonogram. Of course once again he had his hands in front of his face so we couldn't really see him. However, the technician said he weighed approximately 7lbs 5oz. This was at 37 weeks so their guess is that if I deliver on time then I would have a 9lb baby. Big but not huge. So my doctor scheduled me for induction on November 21st--the day after my due date. Obviously I would like to go into labor naturally but I'm trusting that things will work out whatever way is best. He is head down now and I've dropped some (in the way I'm carrying him) so things seem to be on track.
We also picked out our pediatrician last week. His name is Doctor Nadal and his whole theme at his office is trains. We took this as a sign it was the right doctor. He also is a Christian and his views on medicine line up with ours so we were happy to have chosen him.
Almost two weeks ago now I had my baby shower at the church. It was such a wonderful night. Emily came down from Jacksonville for it which helped make it more special! I got so many great and wonderful gifts. The people were so generous in their giving. I got a great deal from my registry and so many cute little outfits as well! I still need to stock up on some diapers though! Of course with our house under construction we had to be a little creative in where we put all of the presents. My parent's dining room table is covered along with some bigger things in my dad's room and a few in our room as well. I'm overwhelmed by the things a baby "needs" (because a wipe warmer is a necessity!) and so thankful that I have people who care enough about us to buy them!! We also purchased our nursery furniture a couple of weeks ago and are pleased so far with our choice...of course it's all sitting in boxes waiting to be assembled! Also, with the money and gift cards received we purchased a glider/ottoman and our stroller/carseat.
I still can't believe it's 17 days at the most left until the arrival of baby Lucas. Ralph still hasn't started thinking much about a middle name so that will be a surprise for all of us! As bad as things have been for us lately and all that's going on in our little world and the world around us...I'm so thankful for the timing of Lucas' birth. He gives me something to get excited (and a little nervous) about. I'm glad Ralph and I and my family can shift our focus off the bad and look forward to something good in our lives. Wow 17 days.... OR LESS!!
