I know that Ralph would've have liked to have seen me blog more regularly  but sometimes as a mom of a toddler nothing "blog worthy" seems to happen in your day to day life.  Lucas eats, plays, sleeps and does it all over again each day.  However now at the age of 2 he has turned into a little man with such a fun personality I wanted to record some of the things he's been up to lately!

His first birthday was fun for us but I'm not too sure how much he seemed to care.  However, at his second birthday he definitely knew that there were presents and they were his or "mine" as he likes to say way too often these days.  He tore through them very well and looked appropriately appreciative for each one...even the clothes.  Of course trains as always steal his heart.  Both grandparents gave him a train toy that he loved!  As we got into the Christmas season things really were fun to see through the eyes of a child.  He loved "tree lights" which is what he called all Christmas lights.  If the house lights or the tree lights or the various decorations through out the house were not turned on he would proclaim "uh oh. tree light broke. fix it."  And then proceed to make sure you turned them ALL on.  He enjoyed Christmas Lane and the Plant City depot with all the lights and pointed out any house that we drove by that had lights on with a squeal of delight and "ooh tree lights!"   It broke his heart when we took down the tree and put away the train that went around it.  He loved opening all his wonderful gifts and of course received a million more trains!  We even got a slide for outside that has been a hit.  Ralph's parents gave to me as a birthday present a fenced in area (with Ralph and his dad actually getting it set up by Christmas Eve night!)  So much fun.

I also joined a gym last summer and started bringing him to the kids club there.  At first it was difficult to leave him.  He'd never been left with anyone other than family or church friends. This was new to both of us.  However after about 2 weeks of tears and using the pacifier he started to blossom.  He began to be more independent and really seems to enjoy it. It has definitely been a win-win situation for both of us.

I of course think he is brilliant but just to list a few things he does:  He can count up to 29!  Sometimes his "teen" numbers get a little jumbled but is improving even on those.  He does great with puzzles and recognizes many letters.  He can (but often won't) say the alphabet up to the letter Q...then he gets bored.  He recently put on a shoe by himself and is super helpful with getting dressed.  He loves bath time and always runs to open the drawer to get me a cloth each night.  Ralph helps out each Wednesday night with bath time and most nights even puts him to bed.  Such a huge help.  Lucas is very observant and extremely particular about getting things just right.  Right now he is telling to "come on mama. this way"  so I guess this will be all for now.  More playing I guess:)
